   Heh, everyone's missed the main thrust of my question.  I'm happy doing a 
straight migration (I've moved from Fedora 5 to CentOS in the past) by 
moving the MySQL d/b around.

   My issue here is that I'll be putting it on a new machine *with different 
tuner hardware* (but the same sources).  I want to do so while maintaining 
my recording rules & history

   To reiterate:

   Swapping boxes it a bit of a red herring;  I'd have the same issue and 
question if I was replacing the tuners in the existing box.
