No difference.  And I've found the source of that particular set of crashes
here now:  the playback profile was FFMPEG::VDPAU, because FFMPEG has better
error tolerance than VDPAU for occasional pixelation of OTA DTV.

But it also seems to cause playback of these mkv files to randomly crash.
So I've flipped the profile back to pure VDPAU::VDPAU, and it seems to
have cured the crashing.
