[mythtv-users] HD-PVR no audio recap

So I've been having an intermittent issue with one of my hd-pvr's not
recording audio via SPDIF from my cable box, same has was discussed
here:

One of the patches is:
05_hdpvr-core.patch - This forces the audio defaults to SPDIF and AC3.
I'm not sure why this is needed, but it keeps sound from disappearing.

I can't find any discussion of if this actually fixed the issue for
people or not, can someone comment one way or the other?
