Time shifting is available on most pvrs. Some pvrs/tvs now have both
freeview and freesat hd. Some tvs can record to a connected hdd.. so unless
you want to use some of the other functions, multi room, place shifting,
scheduling over the internet, consolidating your video collection, music
playback, mythgame and or contolling it from different devices such as
android/iphones.... you might as well get a tv with freeview hd and freesat
hd tuners in it with the capability to record to an external hd.

Thinking about it, the house is rather small and I don't rely on
timestretch at all.
I can see myself going with YouView box that hopefully has DLNA built
in (failing that a TV or bluray player).
