Most of the content you will be recording with MythTV will be MPEG2 
content, or single sliced H264.  Neither of which support multi-threaded 
decoding.  If you require more than one core can provide you, there is 
no headroom, and you will get stalls (or prebuffering pauses) during 
playback.
