I believe it should (may?) do mpeg2 HD via xvmc, but h.264 will be

Actually I believe the best way to get X to work on the TV out port is
to use nvidia-settings, which requires you to install the nvidia
drivers first. Indeed you should be prompted by jockey to install the
nvidia drivers.

Well according to the readme on my frontend the 173 series are for the 5200:
This readme is from nvidia-current-195.36.24 on *buntu. nvidia provide
quite reasonable documentation in the readme, but no one ever seems to
read it before giving advice (not pointed at you in particular Robin)
