I can think of a couple differences between LiveTV and Recordings. You 
can configure different storage locations for Live TV and Recordings. 
You can have different Recording Profiles for LIveTV and Recordings.  
Not sure what else could be different.  Does pausing for a few seconds 
and resuming help at all?
