Hi Raymond,

The Segmenter is optional and you can skip it; you'll need the segmenter
only if creating Apple Segmented VOD encodings for iPod/iPad.  As an
alternative, you can generate Progressive-Download encodings that use
qt-faststart with equal or better results.
