The second hack, you can check is to reduce playback resolution.
Try to set Separate Video modes for playback (in Setup -> Apperance).
This way picure rendering will consume less of cpu.
It is a pity stream decoding still will consume  much resources.
And HD will not be HD. :(

Check your network bandwith too.
HD stream needs larger pipe as it is much more of data.
