It is definitely Google's plan to allow 3rd party apps.    In addition 
like most other devices, I would hope that somebody quickly figures out 
how to root the google tvs so you can even go beyond what's permitted in 
android.

However, as noted the playback would be google tv based, not myth based, 
so no video speedup and such.  Might be possible to integrate the 
cutlist.  And no nupplevideo.   I don't record any NUV any more except 
from a transcode as all my recordings come from my ATSC card or my 1394 
cable box connection as mp2.    I have not upgraded in about 8 months so 
I don't know if transcode has been patched to generate more official 
h264s -- I would want that anyway as I need my transcodes to be vdpau 
playable.
