I've used a lot of these different options, so I'll chime in:

1) Orb - Works great on Windows hosts and I use both the iPod Touch / iPhone
and Android apps. I've tried mounting myth recordings over SMB and renaming
them with mythlink.pl but have never had any luck playing the recordings in
Orb.

2) AirVideo - Never really got it to work on anything.

3) MythExport - Worked great once I replaced ffmpeg with HandBrakeCLI,
although upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10 broke something and I haven't gone back
and checked. As others have said, this is not on-the-fly streaming though;
it's export and watch later.

4) MythPodCaster - Had a hell of a time trying to make it work, but now that
I see an Ubuntu howto, I'll take another crack at it this weekend. It seems
that it may offer exactly what the OP wants.

5) MythTV for iPhone (http://chriscarey.com/projects/mythtv/iphone/) I'm
surprised nobody has mentioned this yet. I don't think it streams in real
time, though, and I've never gotten it to work.
