I, just as someone else that posted in this thread, also regret my
upgrade from 0.23-fixes to 0.24 -- I am having serious issues that
basically make Myth completely unusable to me where 0.23-fixes worked
fine. I have read that 0.24 is working great for many people, but
definitely not for me, so perhaps there is an issue with the specific
capture hardware that I use (HDHomeRun). Here are the details:

The problem I am seeing is that something is causing recordings to
either not record (non-existent recording file), or if there is a file,
the file is cut short.

I can reproduce some of this at will by doing this:

1. Schedule Recordings -> Program Guide, and then choose anything being
shown and make Myth record it, i.e. select a program and choose "Record
only this showing".

2. Recording starts. I can go to Watch Recordings, select the new
recording, and watch it. Pressing the info button during playback shows
the length of the recording increasing. System Status -> Tuner Status
shows "Tuner x is recording".

3. I then stop playback and go to "Watch TV" (while the previous
recording is still going).

4. LiveTV starts to play. LiveTV is being recorded on another tuner.
System Status -> Tuner Status shows now two tuners being used.

5. Leave LiveTV. Go to Watch Recordings. The show that was being
recorded before LiveTV still shows as being recorded. However, the file
size does not increment anymore, and pressing the info button during
playback does not show the length of the recording increasing anymore:
the length is stuck at the length that the recording had prior to me
watching LiveTV. System Status -> Tuner Status still shows "Tuner x is
recording".

This happens to me consistently, 100% of the time. It happens on
a HDHomeRun and the end result is that I cannot record anything
simultaneously on the two tuners of the HDHomeRun (the procedure above
uses a scheduled recording and LiveTV, but it also happens with two
scheduled recordings). The system has a second capture card (HVR-1600)
with one tuner, and I think I could record simultaneously on one of the
HDHomeRun tuners and the tuner in the other capture card, but I have not
tried that.

I have missed several shows because of this problem. My wife is really
pissed at me for upgrading. That is why I regret upgrading from
0.23-fixes.

In terms of workarounds I think I will try next deleting one of the
two tuners of the HDHomeRun. This will cause Myth to never record
simultaneously on both tuners of the HDHomeRun.

I had multirec enabled on the three tuners in my system (2 tuners in
the HDHomeRun and 1 in the HVR-1600) and disabled that yesterday to see
if it had anything to do with the problem, but no, the problem still
persists without multirec.

So, this has been a show stopper for me, and deleting one of the two
HDHomeRun tuners will be one of the last things I will attempt before I
start to seriously consider downgrading to 0.23-fixes.

I reported these problems right after I noticed them (see thread "0.24
recording troubles" a couple of days ago) but nothing came out of the
discussion. I thought the problem was caused by poor TV signal but with
the "success" of the procedure above to break things I now think there
is a problem elsewhere.

There was an update of the HDHomeRun library in 0.24. I wonder if that
has something to do with this...

I'll report back as soon as I test the workaround I mention above.

Cheers,

Eloy Paris.-
