I looked looked through many logs (syslog, mythfrontend.log,
mythbackend.log, messages) and didn't find anything that coincided
with the time that this started to happen. I did see some
prebuffer-related things once in a while (NVP: prebuffering pause),
but these were happening with a similar frequency before the video
capture problems began.

Here are some other things I messed around with:
PCI latency_timer setting for some things, but wasn't able to change
the latency for the IDE hard drive controller -- others have written
about this too
optimizing my xfs hard drives (noatime,nodiratime,allocsize=512m)
defrag of my xfs drives

So, is there really nothing I can do? I'd hate to buy replacement card
only to run into the same issues.
