MythTV's UPnP server does not perform transcoding, so the content must 
be in a format the PS3 can understand.

Unaltered rips should be MPEG2 in a transport stream with AC3, and thus 
should be directly playable.  If you want to transcode, it must be to 
H.264 and AAC, and must be in an MP4 container, or a transport stream.  
Additionally, the PS3 has undocumented restrictions on compression 
options used with H264, but most encoder programs will have a profile 
for the PS3 or similar devices.
