Hi,

thanks for explaining this to me.  I am new to Ubuntu, though not at all 
new to *nix.  The dvb-apps didn't do anything I hadn't tried before, but 
knowing that they are also called "dvbscan" helped my g**gling efforts.

I think I might have solved it, but will post that in an extra message 
replying to my original, for the benefit of all.
