Unless things have changed recently I'm afraid this just suggests that 
you haven't tried running that command on a dvb recording very often. 
The standard response seems to be 'use Project-X' and you may like to 
look at my script at  > http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/8347

As it stands it needs manual intervention - and a little editing to 
configure it - but I find that it does work.
