Thanks.  The internal player was choppy, froze up at times, and
displayed visual artifacts that mplayer does not ... so maybe it
doesn't make sense for me to upgrade mythtv until I test it or
otherwise get some information that the internal video player is doing
better.

Is this other peoples experience with the internal player as well?
