If you use the knoppmyth distro, it's even easier.

My only tweaks were things like adding a second DTV card with split personalities to play nice with a PVR-350 and a VFD display.

I fiddle. So I had to spend some time.. but otherwise, the KnoppMyth distro is quite nice.
