Bitmapped subtitles are the kind you find on DVDs, Blurays, and most 
digital recordings.  They are pre-rendered subtitles, simply overlayed 
on top of the video during playback.  Get a tool that will rip the IDX 
and SUB files from the DVD structure, and then simply multiplex in the 
IDX file.
