CableCARD is a DRM scheme, and as with all DRM schemes relies on
obfuscation to be able to both give the user the keys, and not allow
them to use them. No open source program will ever be able to support
DRM, as it can just be recompiled to disable the parts blocking
unconditional user access. The only way a linux program could get
licensed support for CableCARD is if nVidia/AMD provided a way to send
encrypted video straight into the video card for decryption, decoding,
and output.
