[mythtv-users] No video playback in .23

I upgraded to .23 and since the upgrade I dont get any video playback for recordings, livetv, or in mythvideo.  

I am running the latest nvidia drivers with VDPAU.  

All of my frontends display the same issue, even local on the backend.  When I start a recording I see the black screen with please wait.  Once in this screen the only way out is to kill the mythfrontend process (ESC does not work).

The frontend does not segfault or crash in any way.

I am not 100% convinced that it is a mythtv issue and more just a piece of software that is not being nice.  Any recommendations on how to troubleshoot?
