[mythtv-users] Periodically audio disappears and I have to close/reopen myth FE. Anybody else seeing this or have suggestions?

The system is ubuntu 9.10 with myth 0.22-fixes from JYA depot.

It seems like it may be related to pulse audio but I don't know that for
sure.

What I do know is that I recently changed my audio config in myth FE to
upmix from stereo to 5.1 (can't believe I had it stuck on stereo for so
long). Since I made that change this audio bug hits several times per week
where it used to happen once every couple weeks. Clearly I can disable the
upmix and it should be more reliable but I prefer the way it sounds with the
upmix.

I haven't found a recipe for inducing this failure every time but one thing
that seems to contribute is the following:
-in myth music play any track (mine are all MP3 @ 320bps)
-exit myth music but keep track playing
-open either mythvideo or mythtv-recorded programs and play video.

The video will start and mythmusic will stop but the video will play with no
sound. Exiting the video playback and trying any other recorded content or
live tv will similarly have no sound. Symptom persists until FE is restarted
(the app not the machine).
It also seems like this error happens when switching between recorded SD
content and mythvideo HD content.

My guess is that somewhere the audio stream is changing formats/bitrates/etc
and the transition isn't handled properly?

Does this sound like misconfigured audio? Bug in mythtv? Gremlins?
Suggestions appreciated.

Matt
