Onboard NIC...

lspci
02:01.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82547EI Gigabit Ethernet Controller

dmesg
[    1.930756] Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Driver - version 7.3.21-k5-NAPI
[    1.930764] Copyright (c) 1999-2006 Intel Corporation.
[    1.931043] e1000 0000:02:01.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18
[    1.931059] e1000 0000:02:01.0: setting latency timer to 64

It's the middle of winter here, but I will check the switch as well, it seems unlikely to be that, as the problem can occur when nothing on the network is connected.

If it was the NIC, can anyone advise where I would likely see an error log. There is nothing in syslog around the times it occurs.

Regards
Toby
