looks like the remote frontend didn't have NTP support installed or 
enabled, MBE was fine. Sorted that out and following a cold reboot of 
both machines, still get the error.

following numerous cold boots of the RFE, it appears that the first two 
playbacks or live TV are delayed by 60s, subsequent ones seem ok. Let 
the system idle for a min or two and the delay returns.
Totally bazaar behavior, its got me stumped.

any ideas on how to check if there is a DNS timeout?
