Yes; more quality is always good if meaningfully visible (I know that
there are diminishing returns), and the default 0.9GB/hour for 720p
recordings gives me room to do so.

In my case, I set the cable box to 720p and never change the recording
profile from Default. Thus, the only profile used is Default|Medium
Resolution, which I've not changed from the preset VBR settings of
9000 average/11000 maximum. Should I raise one or both if I want to
emphasize quality, and if so to how much?
