Hi Nick,

it works really fine with my ATI Card.
Here is a cut of my logfile running a H264 Recording in mplayer.
The CPU usage is only 10%

This is my problem with this discussion. I have avoided ATI caards for
years because their drivers on linux are crap. Watching discussions
here, that still seems ot be the case.

What use is vaapi if there isn't a driver layer underneath it to make
the cards work in the first place?
