Sorry to jump in here but I see the same problem at times, I've just put up with it so far.

I'm a little concerned about using a programatically shifted version of the original channel, there are often instances where the broadcaster does not have the rights to make an extra broadcast so the +1 contains only an apology graphic, I'd rather MythTV didn't decide to schedule one of those for recording! I believe this is why there are often "official" IDs for +1 channels as they can be different.
