Wait for 0.24 or run current trunk version of MythTV.

ffmpeg doesn't downmix from 5.1 to stereo AAC content. It only downmix
AC3 and DTS (and does a poor job with DTS too)..

In 0.24, mythtv will use its own downmixer for decoder not supporting those.
