In case anyone else tries something similar:

There were various problems with the myth packages in this upgrade,
which necessitated using 'dpkg --force-depends --remove <package>'
at various stages, because the same file appeared in different packages,
and even though aptitude knew it needed to remove the older packages, it
was trying to install some new packages before removing some older
packages. Then the dist-upgrade completed.

To get mythweb working, I needed to manually remove some php4 packages
that were still installed, which caused aptitude to bring in the rest of
the php5 packages.

And to get flash streaming working, I needed to install libmath-round-perl.
Should that package be a dependency of the mythweb package?

To get jamu working, needed to install python-imdbpy and python-support
from testing (squeeze); then installed python-lxml from lenny.
