EIT gives you 8 days of data in the UK and it also, in theory at
least, updates now and next in real time for scheduling changes
(although I've yet to see ITV get schedule changes right!!).

I get 8 days EIT for both DVB-T and DVB-S without problems.

The reason for no internet access needed is a lot of people who are
sight impaired are older and therefore are often non computer users,
if the box is not effectively 'self contained' it makes it too complex
for the likely user base.
