[mythtv-users] Many new dvd's not working

I've been having a horrible time playing new(er) DVD's in mythtv.  I
suspect it's some new stupid copy protection scheme that simply makes
life miserable for people legitimately renting or buying movies...

At any rate...

The wife acceptance factor has been plummeting recently because of
this.  Often the DVD will dump back to the frontend as soon as the
main menu appears or sometimes as soon as the movie starts.  You can
get around this sometimes by selecting the chapter quickly but then
later you may find yourself back to the frontend somewhere in the
middle of the film.

The two movies that come to mind are Up in the Air and Sherlock Holmes
(both region 1 dvd's).  The worst being Sherlock Holmes.  This was
from Netflix and there was no chapter menu.  Mythtv was an immediate
drop to the frontend.  We managed to get it playing by selecting the
correct video track using vlc but then nearly all the way through the
movie it suddenly stopped playing.

Has anyone else been having this issue with new disks?  Is there a workaround?
