Well I gave it a try and you are all correct, plays up to ~29mins and that all! I noticed that sizes are reported incorrectly too, a 10GB 90 minute recording is reported as 3360MB, a 20 minute recording reported as 3100GB.

Some other recordings >8GB play throughout from Media Tomb so it's not the PS3.

I know this used to work because I used nothing else for TV (inc BBC & ITV HD) for a year or so. I stopped using the PS3 when JYA made vdpau (with studio levels) available as a backport.

Nothing fancy, I don't want transcoding due to the quality loss so it's just a bunch of files exported. I uncommented the extended meta data setting for MediaTomb as recommended for the PS3.

As I understand the PS3 files size limit is due to external use of a FAT filesystem, I don't know if the internal fs suffers from the same problem. If it does that might explain the awful quality of the PS store movies, overcompressed to fit in <4GB.
