[mythtv-users] "Free Antenna TV" threat?

From what I have heard, this is a lobbying campaign being done by the cell
phone network providers in the US who think that the US Over the Air
broadcasters have too much bandwidth and are not doing anything with it.

The cell providers want to provide TV like paid for services over cell phones
and want this area to do it in, and of course will tell congress they will
pay for the bandwidth...

My take is that like most things involving big business' in the US, companies
try and purchase marketshare through congress instead of innovating and
playing fair.

What I am worried about thou is that this might actually work and eventually
congress will do away with over the air tv because they will assume everyone
just has cable anyway, so who is going to care. It is all about getting
elected in the US and a small minority has no chance of fighting back. Being
a minority of the population this will pass and eventually there will be no
over the air broadcasts in the US. A sad sad start to the new decade.
