>>In my (limited) experiences lirc will probe that module when it starts. You can set this in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf.

Yes, I checked the /etc/lirc/hardware.conf and the two modules lirc_dev and lirc_i2c are specified in the remote section and the other two modules lirc_dev and lirc_zilog are specified in the transmitter section.

OK, I have solved loading the lirc_zilog module for now. I included lirc_dev and lirc_zilog as two subsequent entries in the /etc/modules file and mythbuntu laods both those modules successfully. But now it has problem with the lirc_i2c module according to dmesg. Do I need to use the Hauppage remote with the HD-PVR?

When I try to sudo modprobe the lirc_i2c module, it gives me error about unregistered version. I checked and the lirc_i2c.ko is defintely there in the /lib/modules/2.6.31-17-general/ubuntu/lirc/lirc_i2c folder. Going to that folder depth and issuing sudo insmod lirc_i2c.ko gives me -1: permission denied.

Any suggestion as to what step I can take to load all the necessary modules to have a working remote?
