The CSI "franchise" is an example of the blatant copycat-ism of Hollywood 
today, and the "star" is the crime itself, the show(s) give the impression 
that all crimes are solved, by tireless professionals, which is nowhere near 
true, and often gives a totally unrealistic idea of the capabilities and 
duties of law enforcement.

The Sopranos focused more on the family relations than on the crimes, though I 
didn't like that show much either.

I have asked several law enforcement people what crime/police show is the most 
realistic, the universal answer: Barney Miller, and I don't think that answer 
was tongue-in-cheek at all.
