I'm pretty close to that.. I have Verizon FiOS, and actually get a
good amount of shows (mostly HD) unencrypted. Including Nick and
Comedy Central. But the Daily Show will only record once a week :(

I have been looking at a HD-PVR, but $250 is kinda steep.
