Hi;
Try this:
1. Disconnect ethernet cable or USB cable from router so that you are not
connected to the internet in any way.
2. Double check 1.
3. Using control panel disable all firewalls.
4. Try again connecting to mysql.
A. If that works go back and reenable firewalls then select / setup mysql port
6543 and 3306 to be disabled and try again. If that still does not work you
have 2 more options:
A2. *** Have a look at the mysql logs and see if you have a message that
specifies the reason for the failure to connect. *** You might want to try
this first.
A3. Recheck that you are using the correct password for the database as mine
is a somewhat more obscured one.
B. Its not that thenand I'm currently out of ideas but you have tried to
connect the the DB directly using the same comuter but without using telnet
ie, use one of the mysql admin tools such as:
Mysqladmin
Phpmyadmin etc and see if you can connect to the mysql database engine and
then for the specific one eg: mythconverg
PS I dont use Win 7 to access the mythtv DB but if you still have a problem,
let me know and I will attempt to do so (but mythtv runs under Ubuntu Linux)
but I can get into the mythtv server via my laptop and Win 7.
