Ahh, so you are using software encoding, now I understand.

Whether you use PT-JPEG or MPEG4 I think you still wind up with a nuppel 
container, only the codec changes.

With an HDHR the encoding is determined by the original transmitting station 
or network, with the HD-PVR it's determined by the encoder chip in the device 
(h164). 

I'd expect you would be able to transcode from the nuppel container and RT-
JPEG codec to whatever you want using mencoder. I'd also expect that devede 
could manage it, though I am not certain about that. Give it a try and see 
what happens.
