Same here. 544x576 is fine. For one thing, that will be a 4x3
transmission and should get mapped to a 544x576 region of the 720x576
screen. And in any case, it is actually only the vertical resolution
that must match. Any HHHx576 screen mode will do. 1024x576 may be
a better option that 720x576, because then your screen will have
square pixels (I saw a post about that the other day, but haven't
had a chance to try it).

I am in the UK. Not sure about your problem. The only nVidia card I
tried was an FX5200, and I never managed to get that to produce
a suitable mode. ATI worked better for me; currently an on-mobo
X1200 or X1250 (can't quite remember). Frame rate can be another
problem: both framerate and vertical res must be matched for
it to work.
