[mythtv-users] Firewire working... barely

Hi all -

My Comcast DCH3200 STB works intermittently as a firewire tuner for a ASUS
P1-AH2 running 0.22.

To get it to work consistently I must do the following:

   1. Go to "Watch TV"
   2. Wait for L__ (partial lock) will appear
   3. In an SSH session on the backend, execute these two commands one or
more times in quick succession (I use a script, executed manually):
      1. plugctl -n 0 "oPCR[0].n_p2p_connections=0"
      2. plugctl -n 0 "oPCR[0].n_p2p_connections=1"
   4. LAM (locked) will appear
   5. 50% of the time live tv will be displayed and run normally. Otherwise
I get "Error opening jump program file buffer" and am booted back to the
main menu. I simply try again until it works.

I have tried the solutions on these pages to no joy:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/FireWire
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Firewire_Priming

I have assigned the p2p commands above to a button on my remote, which I
must mash to get LAM (locked) to appear.

Is there a better way to get my setup working?

PS - in order for scheduled programs to be successfully recorded I must
execute the p2p commands after myth has begun to record.

Thanks - John
