Thoughts:
Given the system, the noise from a video card fan would probably be
negligible, though the elimination of fan failures is nice.
You'll be lucky to find a cable box with a working F/W port.
System sounds a bit like overkill for a Myth system, but since you say you
intend to do video editing, and maybe run VMs, you may be wise in going that
way.
