I recently upgrade to Fedora 12 and have the null pointer problem with
lirc_serial described in
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/418380#418380
The last posting said 2.6.32.3 should work.

With Fedora 12 kernel 2.6.31.12-174.2.3.fc12.i686.PAE lirc-serial
I get the null pointer and all the other scarry kernel errors but irw
and irrecord work.

When I use 2.6.32.7-37.fc12.i686.PAE the driver loads fine but the
rest of lirc doesn't want to talk to it and the remote doesn't work.
