I see no contradiction. 15 years this month for me of running Linux at
home--Red Hat all the way, starting from the 2.1 distribution with the
1.2.13 kernel--and almost eight years of OS X at home. There was, and
is, no comparison between OS X on the one hand and Gnome/KDE on the
other, whether in polish, functionality, or desktop-application
availability.
I know I could run MythTV's frontend and backend on OS X, but beyond
the additional complications with video acceleration and tuner cards
and such under OS X, I remain more comfortable with the Linux variety
of Unix than Apple's and I don't need the latter shininess for the
task. I type this on a Macbook Pro, though.
