I've always been a bit leery of PlayOn. Many of the sites they access
use encryption to limit access to the content to the official player,
outputting directly to a display. PlayOn bypasses this encryption,
transcodes, and then sends it out the video insecurely over UPNP. Say
what you want about allowances for inter-compatibility, strictly
speaking, they are violating the DMCA, and they are doing so without
consent. The fact that they're a commercial, for-profit entity makes
them seem like a ripe target.
