on your system can you do the following command and post it here.

dmesg | grep hdpvr

*if you are lucky it should show something similar to this:
hdpvr 1-1:1.0: untested firmware version 0x15, the driver might not work
hdpvr 1-1:1.0: device now attached to video0
usbcore: registered new interface driver hdpvr*
