I've got 3x2TB in a RAID 5 config in a NetBSD box that work just fine.
A friend has the same setup under linux.

They're all Hitachi's.

In fact most of my HDs are Hitachi/IBM, can't recommend them enough.

My current raid has been on 24x7 since I built it pretty much. It
replaced a 4x500G RAID array that was about 3 years old. Those drives
are all still working too. (2 of them are now my Myth storage drives,
just checked and they're reporting a power on time of 22146 hours,
which is about 2.5 years.)

Hitachi/IBM had problems about 10-12 years ago with the infamous
"Deathstar"s, but since those days have been absolutely rock solid in
my experience.

As I'm starting to sound like a HGST rep I'll shut up now though. :)

Cheers,

Ian
