The protocol is openly documented on the wiki, along with a page 
specifically exampling how to pull data over the file transfer 
protocol.  Anyone with knowledge of the mplayer internals shouldn't have 
much trouble creating such an input handler.  If someone wanted to write 
it up and had questions, there are a couple of us who idle on the IRC 
channels with sufficient knowledge of the protocol to assist.
