[mythtv-users] Hauppauge 950Q not working in Mythbuntu 10.04

After years of using my old mythbox, I'm setting up a new one.

It's a MacMini from a couple years ago that I upgraded (Core 2 Duo 2
GHz, 2 GB RAM, 500 GB HD), running Mythbuntu 10.04. I have a
Hauppauge 950Q that is hooked up to my SA 3250HD cable box via
S-Video for video and RCA for audio.

Mythbuntu installed without a hitch. I did all the setup, and went to
test it. It wouldn't do LiveTV. For a while it would record and
playback tv if I scheduled it (although without audio), but everytime
I would try to watch LiveTV, it would put up the black screen with
"Please Wait", and then after a few seconds return to the menu.

I finally got the video portion of Live TV to work following the
instructions at
http://laufer.cs.luc.edu/2008/10/hauppauge-win-tv-hvr-950q-works-with.html.
I also got audio to work, but after restarting, it wouldn't work any
more.

I didn't change anything AFAIK, but now not even that is working.
When trying to do Live TV, I'm back to the "Please Wait" for a few
seconds, and then mythfrontend quits, putting me back to the
Mythbuntu desktop. If I schedule something to record, and then go
back and watch it, it gives me the "Please Wait", followed by a black
screen, followed by putting me right back to the menu.

(I had originally tried setting it up with my Hauppauge HD-PVR, but
after running into trouble with that, I thought the 950Q would be
easier. I'm not sure it is.)

I've been trying to troubleshoot the issue for a while now, but I
can't seem to get anywhere. I'm tempted to reinstall and start over
again, but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right
direction. I'm happy to supply any other information that's needed.

I appreciate in advance any help anyone can provide.

Thanks,

Carl
