[mythtv-users] slave backends connect but tuners do not appear

hi all,

i just added another backend with an encoder.  i followed protocol and
removed all capture cards and then added them all back in the order i
want them used.  well, only the master backend tuners show up.  all
the other tuners don't.  i checked the db and they are all in
the capturecard and cardinput tables.  i've checked the master backend
log and it says the slaves connect fine.  i've checked the slave
backend logs and they look good too.  i don't know what is going on.
can someone give me a suggestion on what to check next?
