[mythtv-users] Waiting for sound system to respond

 From the desktop in MythDora 12.23, when I click on 
System->Preferences->Sound a dialog window opens with "Waiting for sound 
system to respond". The sound system apparently never responds, as the 
dialog never closes.

I tried killing mythbackend first - no change.

Anybody having this problem with other MythTV distributions?
